In Matthew 8:1-4, the leper says to Jesus “If you wish, you can make me clean.” This could be our own wish – that God stretch out the hand of goodness and relieve us of whatever burdens we have. God does wish us to be free. But sometimes we don’t let go of the burden – we still hold onto it. It takes trust in God to let go and let God do with it whatever God wants to do.
