Nick Parrendo has spent his entire career, from employee to owner at Hunt Stained Glass Studios in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Hired by George Hunt in 1950, he apprenticed under the supervision of artist Helen Carew Hickman and Charles Morris. Creating, sketching, drawing, presenting and executive artistic jeweled inspirations of vivid color gracing churches, synagogues, hospitals, restaurants, universities, businesses and residences across the country. His esteemed service to the art and craft of stained glass is evident in the many endeavors he has undertaken throughout his more that 50 year career.
In addition to teaching at St. Michael Institute of Sacred Art on Enders Island, Nick has presented his credentials and has been an instructor of stained glass for the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and the Pioneer Crafts Council. He has demonstrated and exhibited stained glass for Pittsburgh's Three Rivers and Kuktztown's Arts Festivals. He has exhibited his works and is a member in good standing of the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh and the Stained Glass Association of America. It is not uncommon for Nicholas to present slides and lectures to various organizations or schools and always giving each person or group a personal touch of the studio, expounding the beauty of stained glass all the while. Among other programs, he has been a guest lecturer for several Stained Glass Association summer conferences. He also has been a master instructor of stained glass for the Life Long Learning Program at Carnegie Mellon University.
