April 30, 2008: In God is our strength

Paul describes what God has done. It is God who gives life and in God we live and move and have our being. God is indeed the source of our strength because we place our trust in Him. The Spirit guides us to the truth and the truth proclaimed here is the unity of the Father, Son, and Spirit.

April 29, 2008: The promise of an Advocate

Jesus has to leave the apostles so that the Advocate will come to them. If Jesus does not go, there will be no Advocate. The apostles do not yet understand all of what Jesus is telling them

Jesus tells the disciples (and us) that the Holy Spirit is with us to remind us of who we are and what we are called to be and do. Barnabas and Paul fled Iconuim because the people there wanted to put them to death, but they went to another area and continued to preach the word of God. The Holy Spirit gives us the strength to hold on to our faith and live it at all times, even when it is difficult!

For those who have classified God as a condemning God, Jesus clarifies for them that God is a saving God, rather than a condemning God! How do we see God? Do we have the same picture of God at all times, or only certain times?
