We attempt to sweep away the debris which has accumulated out of our effort to live on self-will and run the show ourselves. If we haven't the will to do this, we ask until it comes. Remember it was agreed at the beginning we would go to any lengths for victory over alcohol.

January 22nd's Reflection for the Day from A Day At A Time.

In a very real sense, we are imprisoned by our inability, or unwillingness, to reach out for help to a Power greater than ourselves. But in time, we pray to be relieved of the bondage of self.
Have I set myself free from the prison of self-will and pride, which I have built? Have I accepted freedom?

Reflection for the Day
Before I came to the Program -- in fact, before I knew of the Program's existence -- I drifted from crisis to crisis. Occasionally, I tried to use my will to chart a new course; however, like a rudderless ship, I inevitably foundered once again on the rocks of my own despair. Today, in contrast, I receive guidance from my Higher Power. Sometimes, the only answer is a sense of peace or an assurance that all will be well.
"Homecoming" -- the theme of today's "Daily Thought"
Submitted by janderson@ender... on December 10, 2007 - 9:50am."Homecoming" -- the theme of today's "Daily Thought" -- is a wonderful topic for those of us alcoholics who are fortunate enough to have found the rooms of AA. In fact, when people share in meetings and talk about what it was like when they first came to AA, they often describe the experience as one of "coming home" or "feeling at home." For many of us, the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous are what we were searching for our entire lives -- love, fellowship, and a spiritual connection.

Acceptance
Submitted by janderson@ender... on November 30, 2007 - 10:30am.Over time, we, in AA, marvel at the wisdom we receive by reading the Big Book, the Twelve & Twelve, and other AA literature, and by attending meetings and istening to others in the Program.
Today's passage -- on "Acceptance" -- is a perfect example. The last sentence reads, "I need to concentrate not so much on what needs to be changed in the world as on what needs to be changed in me and my attitudes." In that sentence, alone, there's much to reflect on -- and much to try to practice in our daily lives.
Thank you AA.
