This class will introduce students to the beautiful art of Calligraphy or serve as a review for intermediate students. The historical timeline of the development of writing styles from 500 to the 16th century including uncial, carolingiar gothic and italic will be examined.
Students will learn the tools for lettering and how to use the tools properly. Specific instruction will be given on the Foundational Hand with emphasis on understanding pen angle, stroke sequence and spacing. During the week, students will learn many tips, tricks and pitfalls gleaned from the instructor’s 28 years of experience.
