11/8/09 - Advanced Stained Glass and Glass Painting Techniques
Stained glass windows were used to tell stories and add brilliance to the early churches. Nick Parrendo describes Stained Glass as a play with light and pure color. In relationship to the church, the windows enhance the atmosphere of houses of worship. Their color and design help worshippers to lift their hearts, minds and whole selves to God. As Nick says, "God is light and windows are vehicles for God's light". Kathy Jordan adds: For centuries, stained glass has been used in cathedrals and religious building to illustrate biblical stories and to inspire religious experiences. Stained glass fills an open space with colors illuminated by the sun, holding an important place in our spiritual and artistic lives.
